WHFCU Welcomes Community Bridges
Your credit union is pleased to announce the addition of Community Bridges to our field of membership! Community Bridges is an association of small, local non-profit groups that provides “safety net” services to over 20,000 Santa Cruz County residents each year. The groups that form Community Bridges include the Child & Adult Care Food Program, Child Development Division, La Manzana, Community Resources, Lift Line, Live Oak Family Resource Center, Meals on Wheels and Women, Infant & Children’s Nutrition Program (WIC). We are thrilled by this opportunity to provide financial services to groups like these that work to improve the quality of life for so many here in the county! To learn more about Community Bridges visit their website at: www.communitybridges.org Say "Credit" Please!
Whenever you use your
WHFCU debit card you are asked to make
an important decision; should you use your PIN (an on line or debit
transaction)
or should you sign for it or enter your zip code (an off line or credit transaction). What difference does it make? The choice you make determines how your purchase is processed and who pays the bill for the processing. Simply stated, if you choose the credit option, your credit union gets a small processing fee known as interchange. If you select the debit (PIN-based) option your credit union pays that fee and the income goes to the merchant. [Ever wonder why major retailers like Wal-Mart set the default purchase option to debit? Now you know!] Those fees in turn help us provide you with our free checking and free debit card programs! So, if you have ever wondered how you can support your credit union, please choose “credit” with every WHFCU debit card purchase. It costs you nothing and your credit union will love you! |
